Just as God says, “He is the One who has never been beheld by man, the One whom mankind has never known, in whose existence mankind has never believed, yet He is the One who breathed the breath into mankind’s ancestors and gave life to mankind. He is the One who supplies and nourishes mankind for its existence, and guides mankind up to the present day. Moreover, He and He alone is whom mankind depends on for its survival. He holds sovereignty over all things and rules all living beings beneath the universe. He commands the four seasons, and it is He who calls forth wind, frost, snow, and rain. He gives mankind sunshine and brings the coming of night. It was He who laid out the heavens and earth, providing man with mountains, lakes and rivers and all the living things within them. His deed is everywhere, His power is everywhere, His wisdom is everywhere, and His authority is everywhere. Each of these laws and rules is the embodiment of His deed, and every one of them reveals His wisdom and authority. Who can exempt themselves from His sovereignty? And who can discharge themselves from His designs? All things exist beneath His gaze, and moreover, all things live beneath His sovereignty. 　　When it comes to God’s grace, many of the Lord’s brothers and sisters will think of these: Their families are safe from disaster, their spouses work smoothly with a high salary, their children are obedient, sensible, and successful in their studies, and they are living a peaceful and harmonious family life. They think these are God’s grace. In the beginning, I also thought like this. Later, through studying the Bible I came to know that God’s grace is far more than these, and the greatest grace bestowed upon us humans by God is His word. As long as we follow His word and act according to His demands in everything, we will receive greater blessings from God.

　　First of all, let’s read Noah’s story recorded in the Bible. It tells us that the people in Noah’s day didn’t revere God. They stopped at no evil, such as theft, robbery, murder, raping, looting, and so on, which was unbearable for God to witness. Therefore, God intended to destroy the evil mankind with a flood. Nevertheless, before destroying mankind, He still had mercy on them and hoped that they would confess their sins and repent so that they could survive. So, God commanded Noah to make an ark, and told him that He would flood the world. Noah listened to God’s words and did as God instructed. During the time when he was building the ark, he continually passed on God’s will to people that God would destroy the world with a flood, but no one believed his words and turned back and truly repented to God. In the end, on the day that the ark was finished, the flood came. Apart from Noah’s family of eight embarking upon the ark, all of mankind drowned. From this, we can see that Noah listened to God’s word and acted according to God’s word so that he received God’s grace and blessings, surviving the catastrophic disaster; others didn’t listen to God’s word so that they lost God’s grace, losing their lives.

I’m Liu Zhen, aged 78 this year. I’m an ordinary Christian in the Church of Almighty God. Thank Almighty God for choosing me, a rural old woman looked down upon by the worldly people. In my contact with the brothers and sisters, I saw that they were so different from the worldly people. What they lived out was forbearance and love. They all could open their hearts to each other and treat each other with sincerity, without barrier or distance, and being dear as family members. That made me become more certain about Almighty God’s work. As I understood more and more truths, I knew that man should perform the duty of a created being. So I told the church that I wanted to perform duty. But because I was old and couldn’t perform other duties, the church arranged for me to do hosting at home. I really thanked God for giving me according to what I could do. Before I began to do hosting, the brothers and sisters fellowshipped with me, saying, “There are principles for doing hosting in the church. Extravagance and waste in meals are forbidden. One principle is that everyone can eat his fill. We’ll just take pot luck and must not expend too much.” Since then, the brothers and sisters all had ordinary meals at my house. They ate what I ate at usual times and never asked for special treatment. And they often helped me do chores. Sometimes, I saw that the brothers and sisters worked very hard outside in performing duty, so I specially cooked some nice food for them. Then they fellowshipped with me that I should perform duty according to the principles. This made me truly see that the brothers and sisters in the church were really different from the worldly people. I got along very well with them and felt greatly released both physically and mentally. Also I gradually recovered from the former diseases. So I was more grateful to Almighty God for his grace and keeping for me.

Questions and Answers on the Inside Story of the Bible(3)

Question 3: The Lord Jesus said it Himself that the Bible is His testimony. That’s why our belief in the Lord must be based on the Bible. The Bible is our only path to knowing the Lord.

Answer: Then let’s see whether one can truly know the Lord based on the Bible. The answer to this question can be found in the word of Almighty God. Allow me to read it to everyone! “The Jews of the time all read from the Old Testament and knew of Isaiah’s prophecy that a male infant would be born in a manger. You should not search out further proof for Me to show that I am your God. Rather, you ought to discern whether I am of benefit to you; that is the key. Even if you have found out much irrefutable proof within the Bible, it cannot bring you fully before Me. You are one who lives within the confines of the Bible, and not before Me; the Bible cannot help you know Me, nor can it deepen your love for Me. Though the Bible prophesied that a male infant would be born, none could fathom upon whom the prophecy would come to pass, for man did not know the work of God, and this is what caused the Pharisees to stand against Jesus” (“How Can Man Who Has Defined God in His Conceptions Receive the Revelations of God?” in The Word Appears in the Flesh). People in the Age of Law held on to the Scriptures and did not seek or investigate God’s new work. In the end, they crucified the Lord Jesus. We can see from these facts that we cannot get to know God or God’s work merely based on the Bible. we all know that back in the day, the people who followed the Lord Jesus sought to know God based on the actual work and word of the Lord Jesus and the enlightenment and guidance of the Holy Spirit. Not one person got to know God based on the Bible. This is a fact. Brothers and sisters, we also cannot use only the Bible as our basis to measure the work of Almighty God today. The Bible can only be used as a reference. The main thing is to confirm it based on whether or not there is the truth and the work of the Holy Spirit. Only then can the correct decision be made.

Thus, understanding the Holy Spirit’s work is crucial when it comes to obtaining salvation through our faith in God. It is clear to us that in the entire religious world, there are untold numbers of people who have been confused by the work of evil spirits. They treat the work of evil spirits as if it were the work of the Holy Spirit. In the end, they are eliminated because they are possessed by demons. This is tragic. If you want to receive the Holy Spirit’s work, you must recognize the Holy Spirit’s work. If you are unable to recognize the Holy Spirit’s work, you would not know whether or not you have the Holy Spirit’s work and you would not know if you are able to obtain it. If this is the case, your faith in God will be in a chaotic and confused state. It could be said that you have a silly and confused faith. This is why knowing the Holy Spirit’s work is crucial. There are a few important aspects of the Holy Spirit’s work that must be understood. First, we must read some of God’s word, “The work of the Holy Spirit is a form of proactive guidance and positive enlightenment. It does not allow people to be passive. It brings them solace, gives them faith and resolve and it enables them to pursue being made perfect by God.” These couple of sentences are very important. They talk about one aspect of the principles of the Holy Spirit’s work. There are also the results that can be achieved through the Holy Spirit’s work, “When the Holy Spirit works, people are able to actively enter. They are not passive and they are not forced. Instead, they are proactive. When the Holy Spirit works, people are glad and willing to obey. They are happy to humble themselves and even though they are pained and fragile inside, they have the resolve to cooperate. They suffer gladly, they are able to obey and they are untainted by human will, the ideologies of man and they are certainly untainted by human desires and motivations.” How do you feel when you read these two quotes? Do you have an understanding based on experience? One quote speaks about the results that can achieved by the Holy Spirit’s work. The other talks about the principles of the Holy Spirit’s work. What are the principles of the Holy Spirit’s work? The most important principle is that it guides people to enter with a positive frame of mind. It gives people positive enlightenment and it does not allow people to become negative. It comforts people’s hearts so that they have faith and they have resolve. It enables them to seek the goal of being perfected by God. This is one aspect of the principles of the Holy Spirit’s work. It helps people start to enter proactively. It guides and enlightens in a proper manner. We all have had this experience. When we read God’s word and communicate the truth based on our prayers to God, we have a kind of feeling afterward. What kind of feeling is this? We feel that we have more faith in God and that we are more willing to seek the truth, pay the price and suffer. We are willing to seek salvation and perfection by God. How are these positive things produced? These are produced from the Holy Spirit’s work. Without the Holy Spirit’s work, we would not achieve these results. When we do not pray to God and when we are not close to God, inside our hearts, we do not have these feelings. We do not have these positive things. We lack an internal drive. We see that the majority of the time, a lot of new believers are numb in response. They do not have any proper desires. When you ask them, “Do you love the truth?” they do not respond. They feel that it is okay either way. They do not have any desires. Why is this? They do not have the Holy Spirit’s work. This is why, regardless if someone has a genuine faith or a false faith, without the Holy Spirit’s work, they seem numb as if they are a dead person. Presently, we can see that many people who believe in God are particularly devoted. Their hearts are particularly passionate. They are willing to seek the truth. As long as you show them clearly the way of faith and communicate the truth clearly to them, they will be full of energy and willing to pay any price. Where does this kind of faith and devotion come from? From the Holy Spirit’s work. From this point, we can see that if you want genuine faith in your belief in God, if you want to seek the truth and achieve God’s salvation, you must receive the Holy Spirit’s work. What signs indicate that someone does not have the Holy Spirit’s work? Those who do not have the Holy Spirit’s work do not have any energy when it comes to seeking the truth. They have no true faith in God and they are not willing to suffer for God. They are always seeking ease and comfort. They are satisfied with a mediocre faith. A muddled faith is okay for them. This kind of person does not have the Holy Spirit’s work. Within the church, we can see that there are some people who do not have the Holy Spirit’s work. They do not seek the truth. They are not thirsty. They do not have any desire for the truth, the way and the life. They also do not want to pay the price. They think that this is something that will cause them to suffer a loss. They are even more unwilling to suffer. There are some people who can see into them, “It seems that these people do not have the Holy Spirit’s work. Even if they have believed for one or two years, you do not see any progress. They are not able to enter into the truth, nor is there any change in their life disposition.” These are signs that someone does not have the Holy Spirit’s work. That is why if you want to achieve salvation and be perfected by God, you must obtain the Holy Spirit’s work. Right now, the majority of people have the following experience. They say, “Why is it that sometimes, when you believe in God, you do not have any internal energy at all? During the times when you do not have any energy, it seems that you are not able to enter at all. You are not able to enter any aspect of the truth. When you eat and drink God’s word, you do not have any enlightenment. During this period, there is no progress at all. Afterward, unknowingly you will have energy and passion again. Unknowingly you will be able to pay the price and make an effort in seeking the truth, eating and drinking God’s word and communicating the truth. What is going on here?” Presently, some people understand this situation in the following manner, “Oh, this is a period of time where I have the Holy Spirit’s work. These are the results that are achieved through the Holy Spirit’s work.” When you have the Holy Spirit’s work, you will have resolve. No matter what kind of difficulties you encounter, you will not be afraid and you will not retreat. No matter what the cost, you are perfectly happy to pay it without regret. These are the results that can be achieved when you have the Holy Spirit’s work. You can see that there are many people who have cast aside their homes and their businesses. They are being hunted down by the great red dragon. Though they have a home, it is difficult to go back. They do not have a place to rest. However, they do not complain. They are willing to suffer for God. They seek salvation and they want to be perfected. These are the results of the Holy Spirit’s work. If someone does not have the Holy Spirit’s work, then they will not have this kind of devotion. They would have been paralyzed a long time ago. We can also notice that there are some people who complain when they have to fulfill some duties or go through some suffering. They complain that God does not bless them. They complain that God is unfair toward them. They even judge God and have their own notions about God. What is this all about? When someone does not have the Holy Spirit’s work, their corrupt nature and their corrupt disposition inside are exposed outward. When they have to make an effort or pay a bit of a price, they complain afterward. They form their own notions. That is, when someone does not have the Holy Spirit’s work, the corrupt aspect of themselves arises and is exposed. With the Holy Spirit’s work, positive things, things involved in normal humanity, such as conscience, sense and resolution will be activated. That is why, when it comes to your faith in God, if you are unable to obtain the Holy Spirit’s work, then all you are able to do is disobey, resist and rebel against God. Those who have the Holy Spirit’s work are able to seek the truth. They are able to make an effort for God, suffer for God and pay the price for God. They do not have any complaints in their hearts. Those who have the Holy Spirit’s work, the more they believe, the more they feel God is worthy of love. The more they believe in God, the more they know God. The more they believe, the more they feel that God is the truth, that God is righteous, that God is awesome and that God is the best. That is why the people who have the work of the Holy Spirit have more and more of an understanding of God. They are perfected by God more and more. This is especially the case during the period when you are seeking to enter into life. Those who have the work of the Holy Spirit are able to understand and distinguish their own corruption and satanic disposition. Regardless of the situation in which their corruption was revealed, they are able to understand and discern. Even if their ideas and thoughts are incorrect, or they are in an abnormal spiritual state, they can feel and see this. This is a situation that can occur when one has the work of the Holy Spirit. There are many people whose hearts want to seek a change in their disposition. They seek to live out God’s word and put the truth into practice. However, even though they themselves have done many things that resist and disobey God, they do not feel it. They still think that they have not committed any transgressions. They still think that their actions are in accordance with God’s intentions. What kind of situation is this? This is what happens when someone does not have the Holy Spirit’s work. They are not able to distinguish their own conducts and deeds at all. They do not have a clear picture of what their own condition is like. Even though they are clear about and acknowledge their own corruption, they do not think it is very serious. They are not afraid. They are not worried that they would be eliminated because they are like this. This kind of circumstance is abnormal. This is a circumstance where someone does not have the work of the Holy Spirit. When someone has the work of the Holy Spirit, they are able to discern their own condition very clearly. Their self-analysis is very clear. Regardless of what situation they encounter, they are able to take that situation and compare it to God’s word. They are able to analyze the essence of the situation and thus, they understand their own inherent nature. After a period of time of seeking, they have a genuine understanding of their own corrupt essence. This is a result that can be achieved through the Holy Spirit’s work. There are many people that try but are unable to understand themselves. When other people deal with and prune them, they seem to acknowledge it, but they do not have a clear understanding. You ask them, “Do you understand the essence of your own nature?” They reply, “The essence of my nature is Satan’s nature.” Notice how this kind of person provides a formulaic answer, which is theoretical reasoning. When you continue, “How can you say that the essence of your nature is a satanic nature?” they do not answer you clearly. You ask them again, “Do you have any corruption to expose?” They acknowledge that they do. But when you ask them what kind of corruption they have exposed, they do not tell you clearly. “During this time, how is your circumstance?” “My circumstance? It’s not very good.” “Why is it not good?” They do not tell you clearly. This is an example of someone who does not have the obvious work of the Holy Spirit. They are unable to understand even themselves and they are unable to discern their own true circumstance. They do not know whether or not their internal circumstance is abnormal or not. They are unable to articulate it clearly. Look, the people who do not have the work of the Holy Spirit are dark inside. Internally, they are very dark. They do not know themselves. There is no difference between them and dead people. When I communicate the truth with these types of people, there is not even a bit of a happy expression on their face. How do you not have a reaction? Why are you unable to simply open up and talk about your circumstance? How are you so numb? This is someone whose internal circumstance is abnormal. They do not have the work of the Holy Spirit. From these matters, we can see that there is an issue and it relates to entering into life. Regardless if it is related to the aspect of understanding yourself or knowing your own true circumstance, both of these require the illumination and enlightenment of the Holy Spirit. In the end, when it comes to understanding God, putting the truth into practice and serving God, all of these things rely on the Holy Spirit’s work. If you do not have the Holy Spirit’s work, truly, you will not be able to move a single step in regard to entering into life. You will not be able to achieve any results. That is why the Holy Spirit’s work is extremely crucial!

What Do You Know of Faith?

    In man exists only the uncertain word of faith, yet man knows not what constitutes faith, much less why he has faith. Man understands too little, and man himself is too lacking; his faith in Me is but mindless and ignorant. Though he knows not what faith is, nor why he has faith in Me, he continues to believe in Me obsessively. What I ask of man is not merely for him to obsessively call upon Me in this way or to believe in Me in a desultory fashion, for the work I do is so that man may see Me, and know Me, not so that man is impressed and looks at Me in a new light. I once manifested many signs and wonders and performed many miracles, and the Israelites of the time showed Me great admiration and greatly revered My exceptional ability to heal the sick and exorcise demons. At the time, the Jews thought My healing powers to be masterly, extraordinary—and because of My many deeds, they all venerated Me, and felt great admiration for all of My powers. Thus, all who saw Me perform miracles followed Me closely, such that thousands surrounded Me to watch Me heal the sick. I manifested so many signs and wonders, yet people merely looked upon Me as a masterly physician; so, too, did I speak many words of teaching to people at the time, yet they merely regarded Me as a teacher superior to his disciples. Even today, after men have seen the historical records of My work, their interpretation continues to be that I am a great physician who heals the sick and a teacher to the ignorant, and they have defined Me as the merciful Lord Jesus Christ. Those who interpret the scriptures may have surpassed My skills in healing, or may even be disciples who have now surpassed their teacher, yet such men of great renown, whose names are known around the world, consider Me so lowly to be a mere physician. My deeds are greater in number than the grains of sand on the beaches, and My wisdom surpasses all the sons of Solomon, yet people merely think of Me as a physician of little account and an unknown teacher of man. So many believe in Me only that I might heal them. So many believe in Me only that I might use My powers to drive unclean spirits out from their bodies, and so many believe in Me simply that they might receive peace and joy from Me. So many believe in Me only to demand from Me greater material wealth. So many believe in Me just to spend this life in peace and to be safe and sound in the world to come. So many believe in Me to avoid the suffering of hell and to receive the blessings of heaven. So many believe in Me only for temporary comfort, yet do not seek to gain anything in the world to come. When I brought down My fury upon man and seized all the joy and peace he once possessed, man became doubtful. When I gave unto man the suffering of hell and reclaimed the blessings of heaven, man’s shame turned into anger. When man asked Me to heal him, I paid him no heed and felt abhorrence toward him; man departed from Me to instead seek the way of evil medicine and sorcery. When I took away all that man had demanded from Me, everyone disappeared without a trace. Thus, I say that man has faith in Me because I give too much grace, and there is far too much to gain. The Jews believed in Me for My grace and followed Me wherever I went. These ignorant men of limited knowledge and experience sought only to behold the signs and wonders I manifested. They regarded Me as the head of the house of the Jews who could perform the greatest miracles. And so when I exorcised demons from men, it caused much discussion among them: They said that I was Elijah, that I was Moses, that I was the most ancient of all prophets, that I was the greatest of all physicians. Apart from Myself saying that I am the life, the way, and the truth, none could know My being or My identity. Apart from Myself saying that heaven is the place where My Father lives, none knew that I am the Son of God, and also God Himself. Apart from Myself saying that I shall bring redemption to all mankind and ransom mankind, none knew that I am the Redeemer of mankind, and men only knew Me as a benevolent and compassionate man. And apart from Myself being able to explain all there is of Me, none knew Me, and none believed that I am the Son of the living God. Such is people’s faith in Me, and the way they try to fool Me. How could they bear witness to Me when they hold such views of Me?

But the Lord Jesus also clearly prophesied many times that He would come back. Don’t we believe this? When examining the prophecies of the Lord Jesus’ return, many people give priority to being wary of false Christs and false prophets, and spare no thought to how to welcome the arrival of the Bridegroom, and how to hear the voice of the Bridegroom. What’s the issue here? Isn’t it a case of not eating for fear of choking, of being penny-wise and pound-foolish? In fact, no matter how we guard against false Christs and false prophets, if we do not welcome the return of the Lord, and we cannot be taken before God’s throne, we are foolish virgins who are eliminated and forsaken by God, and our belief in the Lord is an utter failure! Key to whether or not we can welcome the return of the Lord is whether or not we are able to hear the voice of God. As long as we recognize that Christ is the truth, the way, and the life, we will have no difficulty in identifying the voice of God. If we can’t discern what is the truth, and only focus on the signs and wonders, then we will surely be deceived by false Christs and false prophets. If we do not seek and examine the true way, then we will never be able to hear the voice of God. Are we not waiting for death, and bringing about our own destruction? We believe in the words of the Lord: God’s sheep hear the voice of God. Those who truly have brains, and caliber, and can hear the voice of God will not be deceived by false Christs and false prophets. For false Christs and false prophets are without the truth, and unable to do the work of God. This is not something we need to be concerned about. Only those who are confused and brainless can be deceived by false Christs and false prophets. The clever virgins will not be deceived by false Christs and false prophets, because they have God’s care and protection. When God made man, the clever virgins were given the spirit of man and able to hear the voice of God. So God’s sheep hear His voice, which is ordained by God. Only foolish virgins devote themselves to guarding against false Christs and false prophets, and neglect to seek and examine the Lord’s return. If we wish to welcome the return of the Lord, and not be deceived by false Christs and false prophets, then we must understand how false Christs deceive people. Actually, the Lord Jesus has already told us about the deceitful practices of false Christs and false prophets. The Lord Jesus said: “For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; so that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect” (Mat 24:24). The words of the Lord Jesus show us that false Christs and false prophets mainly rely on performing signs and wonders to deceive God’s chosen people. This is the primary manifestation of false Christs’ and false prophets’ deception of people. In this, we must understand why false Christs and false prophets use the signs and wonders to deceive people. Above all, it is because false Christs and false prophets are utterly devoid of the truth. In nature and substance, they are extremely wicked evil spirits. So they have to rely on signs and wonders to deceive people. If false Christs and false prophets were possessed of the truth, they wouldn’t use signs and wonders to deceive people. Looked at in this way, false Christs and false prophets perform signs and wonders because that’s all they can do. If we can’t see this, then it will be extremely easy for them to deceive us. Only Christ is the truth, the way, and the life. The One who can express the truth, and show mankind the way, and give them the life is the One who is Christ. Those who are incapable of expressing the truth are surely false Christs, they’re fakes. This is the basic principle of identifying false Christs and false prophets. All those who seek and examine the true way should abide by this principle to seek and ascertain the voice of God, and in this they do no wrong.
